Joutsen is a Finnish family-owned company founded in 1936, specializing in down products and processing. Joutsen's story begins in a sauna, where the company's founder, Marius Pedersen, got the business idea of industrial down cleaning. The company's symbol became a swan, which represents purity and pride in the Northern nature.
Down jackets made from responsibly produced down are designed in Finland and manufactured in Joutsen's own factory in Estonia. In the refining plants of Riihimäki and Estonia, the 100% down filling of the jackets is cleaned to a uniquely pure state. The sewing work for lightweight down jackets is subcontracted by Joutsen from Chinese family-owned companies with whom they have formed reciprocal and permanent partnerships. Joutsen uses recycled fabric as the lining material for their down jackets and aims to reduce the use of virgin polyester and polyamide in all of their products.
