Ekta Helsinki's goal is to promote conscious consumption by encouraging customers to invest in high-quality, timeless clothing pieces that can be worn for years. Ekta was founded by two climate-conscious mother entrepreneurs from Finland, Mikaela and Nicolina. The company has been awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, one of the strictest and most recognized environmental certifications. This Nordic environmental label proves that the products have minimal environmental impact and that no harmful chemicals were used in the production process.
Ekta Helsinki uses only 100% Finnish, undyed lambswool in their products. Lambswool is a natural and renewable material, eco-friendly, 100% biodegradable, and recyclable. The wool is flexible, breathable, durable, and does not itch or pill easily. Easy-to-care-for wool is comfortable to wear year-round. The wool comes from farms across Finland. After washing, the wool is spun into yarn at a factory in Central Finland. The yarn is then either woven or knitted into products at various factories in Southern, Western, and Central Finland.
